He made him ride on the heights of the landand fed him the produce of the field.He nourished him with honey from the rockand oil from the flinty crag,

In the days to come, Jacob will take root.Israel will bud and blossomand fill the whole world with fruit.

But the fig tree replied,‘Should I stop giving my sweetnessand my good fruit,to hold sway over the trees?’

Those slain by the sword are better offthan those who die of hunger,who waste away, pierced with painbecause the fields lack produce.
