- Dep. to be gone, to have gone, Lat. abesse (not abire), in perfect sense, and imperfect *ὠιχόμην *in pluperfect sense, directly opposite to ἥκω, to have come, while ἔρχομαι, to go or come, serves as the present to both, (Homer), etc.;—;often with participle, *οἴχεται φεύγων *is fled and gone, (Iliad by Homer); *ὤιχετ᾽ ἀποπτάμενος *he hath taken flight and gone, (Iliad by Homer); *οἴχεται θανών *(see. infr.

1); also with an adjective, *οἴχεται φροῦδος *he's clean gone, (Aristophanes Comicus):—. to have escaped from, (Iliad by Homer)
